Great, I'm on vacation - well at least I didn't have to my go to my place of employment, but I had a to-do-list a mile long! AND IT WAS HOT! It was so hot that my candles were melting without being lit. It was so hot that I was watching my bananas ripen on my kitchen counter. It was so hot that I wasn't dieting, I was evaporating!
I just had no ambition to do anything on my list. It was 9:00 a.m. and I was thinking air-conditioning! I looked at my list again - grocery shopping and birthday cards to buy - in air-conditioning! I could scratch two things off of my list and be reasonably comfortable doing them.
Now I don't mind picking up a few things to eat, but I had over 15 cards to find! February and June are like that in this Cooley-Crombez household . . . everybody has a birthday either in February or June. (Of course I shouldn't complain - I have a birthday in June and so does my husband Rene! And even my mother's is not too far away - July 8th.) Now buying 15 cards was going to take some time, especially when I like to pick out cards to match the person. I buy serious ones for the serious (although there are not too many of those) and funny cards for the light-hearted (usually all I buy if the truth was known).
I must have read every funny card on the rack (in the aisle). One card hit me so funny that I laughed aloud and almost embarrassed myself. I hope all of those June birthdays get as big of a kick out of getting their cards as I had picking them out for them. What a hoot, I even finished shopping with a smile!
After I left the store, it was still hot outside, but I was only "warm" on the inside. So if you're hot and overwhelmed this summer, go visit the Hallmark Health Spa, have a good air-conditioned laugh -- and it's free, -- if you avoid impulse buying : . . . Have a great day!
Proverbs 17: 22: A merry heart doeth good like a medicine . . .
